On May 21st in Los Angeles California at the Southern California School of Ministry, Helen received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity. This was a very precious and yet powerful day for Helen after 29 years of full-time ministry. Having served the Lord in almost every area of ministry from cleaning the toilets in the church to preaching the word, her faithfulness qualified her for this great honor.
The Southern California School of Ministry founded by Dr. Benjamin Reid, has been in existence for over 25 years and has given honorary Doctorates to distinguished clergy such as Bishop Charles Blake, Pastor of the West Angeles Church of God in Christ, Minister Wanda David-Turner and Dr. Cynthia Hale, just to name a few.
Dr. Gregory Dixon, president of SCM and also senior pastor of the First Church of God in Inglewood, California presided over the event. Dr. Maurice Johnson, dean of the school, Dr. Donald Blake and other distinguished leaders, educators, ministers and pastors in the Los Angeles area gathered together for the graduation ceremony.
Over 30 family members and friends attended the ceremony. They clapped and rejoiced as Jesus was lifted up and Helen was honored.
It wasn't just a graduation ceremony, but was a celebration and a truly spiritual experience. The choir sang, the congregation rejoiced and the word was preached. Dr. Dixon ministered a word on "faithfulness" to the people. Everyone who attended received something from heaven as life was imparted to them through the praise and worship and singing and ministry of the Word.
Everyone who knows Helen, knows that she will never insist on anyone calling her" Dr. Helen" or "Dr. Trowbridge", or even " Dr. T" but it is certainly a great honor for her after all the years of faithfully serving the Lord , His kingdom and His people. It's a real testimony that God is true to His word. He is a rewarder for those who diligently seek Him. |
